Hope 365: Day 21 of Daily Meditations for the Grieving Heart
We must let go of the life we planned in order to accept the life that is now waiting for us.
Life rarely goes as planned. In fact, I don't know too many people who have set out in a direction and have stayed the course achieving all the goals that were set before them.
Instead, life is full of all kinds of highs and lows and unexpected twists and turns. There are unforeseen tragedies that come into our lives, leaving us wondering why we even took the time to set goals. This is especially true when the grief of loss enters into our lives. We never plan on losing a loved one, especially a child. No parent ever thinks about burying their child, and yet this happens more often than we'd like to think.
Life is full of changes and when tragedy strikes we must learn to eventually let go of the plans we once made and learn how to live within the new life that is now ours. Is this easy? Absolutely not! But, we draw strength from seeing others who have gone before us. They have forged the way for us and have shown us that it can be done. The inner will to survive amid life's greatest tragedies is stronger than we think!
I cannot always choose the path that is before me, but I can choose the attitude I will have about the journey.
