Passover 2018

I have realized that the 2nd year is harder than the 1st, other bereaved parents I have spoken with, as well as Brian have said the same thing. We feel this is because things start to become more real, you are coming out of the grief fog you've been in. Well this holds true for holidays, special occasions and anniversaries as well. On top of it being Passover, it was also Becca's LONG spring break (she had off Friday and Monday) so we decided to go away for a few nights. It turns out we only stayed away for one night...but it was away. We had the 1st Seder with my family on Friday night. Saturday morning, we got up and drove to Assateague Island. We spent sometime on Saturday in the park looking for the horses as well as walking on the different trails. Then we went to the hotel in Ocean City, Maryland. Had dinner, walked on the boardwalk (because when in Ocean City you must), and then went out for ice cream. As we were driving up and down Coastal Highway to get to our destinations, Brian and I told Becca about what our summers were like "at the beach". How it would take hours to drive down Coastal Highway from the condo your parents had rented for the week to the boardwalk. How your parents rented the same condo every year, so you got to spend the time with the same people every year. And you always went the week before school started. Becca's response, "that sounds crazy and ridiculous at the same time".

Sunday morning, we had breakfast with the view of the beach and ocean by our side. Then it was back to the park to look for more horses and walk on the beach. We found some more horses, as well as the same ones we found on Saturday. We walked another trail, where we took some selfies and individual photos in a tree (something we had never done before). It was time for a very short walk on the beach, because again you are at the beach and you must.

It was time to come home, after just a few 24 hours away for some relaxtation, while we work on taking care of each other through the 2nd year of this part of our journey.

Brian and Becca walking down one of the trails...wonder what they are talking about.

Some of the horses walking in the street. Yes, they had the right away.

Another view of the horses with some kites flying high.

A view of the ocean from one of the camp sites. There are no hotels on the island, you can only camp.

More horses, this time they are right by the beach eating. This one was my favorite, look at the "heart" spot on it's chest.
Becca taking a photo of one of the horses. She was probably around 10 feet away from the horse.

So while walking on the boardwalk, a few stores were open. Becca found these hermit crab shells....was Ian with us, I think so.

When the twins were young, we had a family saying that the kids were proud when they got it right: "Who's the Queen, Mommy is. Who's the King, Daddy is. Who's the Princess, Becca is. And who's the Prince, Ian is. Who's the Boss, the Queen".

Brian was just standing there watching the horses, well this one decided to come say hi to him.

We had a nice time, relaxed some and enjoyed the beautiful views and horses.
